Privacy Policy
Last updated 28 October 2026
This policy covers this website (oisinr.xyz) and Homelab Dashboard, a personal dashboard I run on my own home network. Homelab Dashboard is not a public service: it is used only by me, and only on my own Google account.
Who is responsible: I, Oisin Ruane, am responsible for the personal data described here (the data controller under the GDPR). I am based in Ireland, and the site is hosted on my own server in Ireland. You can reach me at [email protected].
This website
The site has no accounts, forms, analytics or advertising, and I do not track visitors. Some information is still processed when you visit, as with any website:
- Server logs. My web server records each request: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested and your browser's user-agent string. I use these only to keep the site working and secure. They are deleted automatically after about five weeks.
- Cloudflare. Traffic to this site passes through Cloudflare, which protects
it and connects it to my server. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to
do this, and may set short-lived security cookies (such as
__cf_bm) to tell people from bots. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. - Fonts and styling from other providers. Pages load the Inter font from
Google Fonts and their styling from Tailwind's content delivery network
(
cdn.tailwindcss.com), and some project pages load placeholder images from placehold.co. Your browser contacts these services directly, so they receive your IP address and browser details. See Google Fonts' privacy information. - Cookies. This site does not set any cookies itself. Cloudflare's security cookies above are the only ones you may receive, and they are not used for tracking or advertising.
If you email me
If you contact me, I receive your email address and whatever you write. I use it only to reply, and keep it no longer than needed for that conversation.
Homelab Dashboard and Google data
Homelab Dashboard asks Google for read-only access to Google Calendar
(calendar.readonly), so it can show
upcoming events on a calendar on the dashboard.
- What it reads: event titles, times and dates from the calendars I choose.
- How it is used: only to display those events on the dashboard. Nothing is changed in Google Calendar; the access is read-only.
- Storage: events are fetched when the dashboard needs them and are not saved. The only thing kept is the sign-in token Google issues, stored on my own server at home so the dashboard can keep reading the calendar.
- Sharing: Google data is not sold, shared with anyone, used for advertising, or used to train AI or machine-learning models.
- Who can see it: the dashboard is only reachable on my home network.
Homelab Dashboard's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Removing access
Access can be withdrawn at any time from the Google Account permissions page. Withdrawing it stops the dashboard reading the calendar straight away, because the stored token no longer works.
Legal basis
Server logs, Cloudflare and the fonts and styling providers are used on the basis of my legitimate interest in running a secure, working website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Emails are handled to reply to you, on the same basis. Homelab Dashboard reads only my own calendar, with the access I granted it.
Transfers outside the EU
Cloudflare, Google and Tailwind's content delivery network are run by companies based in the United States, so the information they receive may be processed outside the EU. They rely on safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
You can ask me for a copy of the personal data I hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can object to how I use it. Email me and I will reply within a month. You can also complain to Ireland's Data Protection Commission.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with the date at the top updated.
